This thirty minute ambient piece was commissioned by The Fair Haired Dumbbell, a skyscraper in Portland that overlooks the Burnside Bridge. It plays on a loop in the building's lobby.

The soundtrack is about the design and construction of the building.

There are four movements in the piece which tell the journey:

“One: Architecture & Inspiration” — A soundscape for the initial construction, incorporating sound recorded outside of the building. This movement favors the “real” to the ethereal.

“Two: Paint and Process” — Sounds and melody that represent the motion of the paint brushes on Dumbbell’s exterior (the building famously is covered with abstract art)

“Three: Soaring Heights (Nearing Completion)” — The feeling when one nears a destination. This movement is also inspired by the literal height of the building, and the image of reaching into the skies.

“Four: After Completion” — A reflective section; and a return to the field recording — only this time processed to create musical notes — making the exterior interior;

and bringing us back to the loop we started at.
